Mussels are really appreciated in Belgium...they are one of our national dishes.If you like them also, below is a recipe for preparing them the Belgian way...the best one :o)

You put all the vegetables including onions, thyme, laurel into your casserole with the butter. After 10 minutes you add the mussels, the wine, the garlic, salt and pepper, after 10 other minutes you shake the casserole several times to mingle all the mussels. You still wait 10 minutes and then....you are ready to eat the most delicious mussels you have ever tasted !!! I suggest you to serve them with french frites and white wine. You can make a very easy and tasty sauce which matches with both mussels and french frites : for one table spoon of salad sauce you add one table spoon of cream and a tea spoon of mustard. |
